Luxury SUV Gets a Darker Identity After a Visit to 404eliteautos

It`s not a secret anymore that the Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 is one of the company`s most exclusive luxury SUVs, with a mix of high-end features in terms of design, power, and stance. Buyers also consider it even more high-end than the Bentley Bentayga or the Rolls-Royce`s new Cullinan.

Whether it matches those rivals is another discussion. What matters here is that one owner decided the factory specification was not quite enough and handed the SUV over to 404eliteautos for a series of visual changes.

The project avoids oversized body kits and dramatic styling tricks. In fact, most people would likely miss several of the modifications at first glance.

The body now wears a satin-black finish. Ceramic tint joined the package as well. The wheels remain close to the original design language, though they now carry a glossy black powder-coated treatment. Behind them sits a splash of color. Red brake calipers break up the otherwise dark presentation.

A few smaller details draw attention, too. The Mercedes hood ornament received red paint. The same treatment appears on the rear-pillar logos and on the Maybach and GLS 600 badging at the back. Those red accents explain the article’s unusual reference to lipstick marks. They are small changes, yet they alter the character of the SUV more than expected.

Inside, the formula stays familiar. Black leather remains in place. Glossy black trim pieces continue the dark theme. Ambient lighting still fills the cabin after sunset.

One addition separates this example from many others. The shop fitted a star-pattern headliner inspired by the approach made famous by Rolls-Royce. Such installations have spread throughout the customization world in recent years. You can now find them in vehicles costing far less than a Maybach. Still, the upgrade feels more at home here than in most applications.

Mechanical revisions do not appear to be part of the build. At least none are mentioned. The GLS 600 therefore, continues with the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 found under the hood from the factory.

Output remains rated at 550 horsepower, equivalent to 410 kW or 558 ps. Peak torque stands at 558 pound-feet, or 770 Nm, available from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. Maximum horsepower arrives between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm.

Factory performance figures stay unchanged as well. Mercedes lists a 0 to 60 mph run in 4.6 seconds. The metric equivalent is 0 to 97 kph. Power travels through a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission and a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

The luxury SUV rides on standard 22-inch wheels measuring 9.5×22 at the front and 11.5×22 at the rear. Maximum towing capacity reaches 7,700 pounds, or 3,493 kg.

For buyers shopping the 2026 model year, the starting price sits at $180,000 before destination charges, optional extras, and dealer fees.
