Mansory Gronos Arrives in the U.S. With 815 bhp and a Wild Satin-Black Makeover

This Mercedes-AMG G 63 by Mansory was recently introduced in the United States and sits quietly at Road Show International. We are dealing here with a heavily modified ride that bears the signature of one of the most renowned tuners, which is Mansory.

If you take a closer look at the car`s exterior, it might give you the impression that you are looking at a military-style vehicle than a luxury SUV with an off-road attitude.

The satin black finish helps with that impression, but so do the added parts spread across nearly every visible section of the body. This Gronos wears extra bumper components front and rear, a replacement hood, side attachments, roof-mounted add-ons at both ends, auxiliary lighting in the lower front section, more lights above the windshield, widened arches, running boards, a multi-fin rear diffuser, a custom spare-wheel mount, and additional rear lighting. It is a lot. Maybe too much for some tastes. Still, it is put together with the kind of visual commitment that Mansory rarely lacks.

As for the wheels, Mansory has also chosen some special ones that best fit the G 63. These wheels come with teal details that contrast the car`s dark theme. It is actually the same color that continues to highlight the whole interior.

Speaking of which, inside, the Gronos goes all in. Mansory branding appears on the steering wheel, seatbelts, door cards, and other trim pieces. The headliner uses a starry-sky effect, while the doors also receive star graphics. There are illuminated treadplates, a large helping of carbon fiber, and a pair of subwoofers mounted in a dedicated enclosure in the cargo area. The exterior also gets forged carbon elements, though in this case, they are more restrained than you might expect from Mansory. That is restrained by its standards, anyway.

As for power under the hood, the figures have also changed. According to Road Show International, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 now produces 815 horsepower and 915 Nm of torque. That is enough to produce a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, at a top speed which is electronically limited at 282 kph.

This makes the G 63 in question one second quicker than the standard model, and all squeezed from the same V8 4.0-liter bi-turbo engine, which in stock form develops 577 horsepower and 622 Nm of torque.

It is not a subtle build, and it does not try to be. But for buyers who want a G-Class turned into something louder, faster, and far more theatrical, this U.S.-based example leaves very little to the imagination.
