One Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM Cabriolet will cross RM Sotheby’s in Germany during the Lake Tegernsee auction scheduled for July. AMG kept production low from the start.

According to statistics, there were only 80 cabrio versions ever built between 2006 and 2007. Also, the German-based car manufacturer completed 100 coupes linked to the 2003 DTM title.

This sales car entered service in August 2006. Bright Silver Metallic covers the body, while black anthracite defines the cabin trim. Distance recorded stays at 1,997 km, equal to 1,240 miles. A recent maintenance invoice reached close to €10,000, listed alongside $11,800. Such mileage leaves few comparable examples on record.

The estimate reaches $650,000. Numbers like this usually belong to rare AMG projects from an earlier period, especially when mileage remains low, and documentation stays current.

The drivetrain uses a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 rated at 582 horsepower and 590 pound-feet, with 800 Nm shown alongside. Rear-wheel drive remains unchanged here. Maximum speed reaches 186 mph, or 300 km/h. For comparison, the source places those figures beside a BMW M4 Competition, rated at 523 horsepower and 479 pound-feet, equal to 649 Nm.

Output figures still hold attention today, though age says otherwise. AMG built this model during a phase when sales volume did not dictate every decision.

Bodywork carries wide front arches, matching rear sections, and a fixed rear wing mounted high behind the cabin. The proportions stay unusual even now. Nothing looks reduced or softened. The front seats use lightweight bucket shells. Rear seating sits directly against a carbon-fiber bulkhead, which changes cabin layout more than expected.

Among older AMG products, the CLK DTM Cabriolet shares space with cars such as the SL65 AMG Black Series. Both belong to a smaller group shaped with fewer compromises.

The article source also points toward AMG’s later shift toward larger sales targets inside Mercedes-Benz. A brief mention covers the current four-cylinder hybrid C 63, still debated, along with discussion around a future return to V8 power.

No extra story surrounds this auction entry. The facts remain simple. Limited production, low mileage, recent service, known specification. For collectors following rare AMG models, those details usually decide whether bidding starts early or late.
