AMG engineers returned to the Nürburgring with another batch of updated S 63 E Performance prototypes, and the latest footage exposed more than earlier sightings did. Public road testing also took place around the German track, where several camouflaged sedans appeared wearing disguises over the front and rear sections.
Mercedes-Benz already rolled out the revised S-Class earlier this year. AMG now moves closer to presenting its own interpretation before the existing S 63 disappears from the catalog. The timing still feels slightly unclear. Some references point toward a 2027 launch, though a 2028 arrival has not been ruled out either.

The video uploaded by Carspotter Jeroen focused entirely on the large performance sedan. During fast laps around the Nürburgring, the car looked composed and heavy, though stable through corners. A few smaller visual adjustments emerged once the prototypes passed close to the camera. Up front, AMG redesigned the Panamericana grille while keeping proportions similar to those found on the regular S-Class facelift. Vertical slats remain present. Lower bumper sections received changes, too, along with reshaped side openings.
Toward the back, the sedan keeps the traditional four-exhaust layout associated with 63-badged AMG models. The squared outlets sit inside a larger rear diffuser. There is also a small ducktail spoiler mounted onto the trunk lid. Dedicated wheels appeared on the prototypes, paired with revised brake hardware. Suspension calibration changed as well, aiming for quicker responses during cornering. At least according to the original report.
Underneath, the formula stays familiar. Mercedes-AMG plans to continue using a flat-plane crank V8 with a 4.0-liter displacement and twin-turbocharging. Final output figures for the facelifted sedan have not surfaced yet, though the outgoing model already delivers serious numbers through its hybrid system.
Current S 63 E Performance specifications reach 802 PS, equal to 791 hp or 590 kW. Torque climbs to 1,430 Nm, or 1,055 lb-ft. Top speed stands at 290 kph, which translates to 180 mph. The run from 0 to 100 kph, or 0-62 mph, takes slightly over three seconds.

Oddly enough, none of those numbers dominate the car’s personality during the footage. The visual presentation stays restrained for a machine carrying such output. Clean body lines, subtle proportions, large dimensions. Then the V8 soundtrack arrives and changes the mood entirely.
